The latest edition of Canam Info-Tech is now online

The September edition of Canam Info-Tech, the electronic bulletin prepared by Canam Canada for the consulting engineering community, is now available on Canam’s web site.
The column dedicated to the subject of steel joists and joist girders features an article on the dimensions required for duct openings in joists and joist girders as well as Canam practices with regard to the integration of ducts through these web members. The article featured in the column on steel deck discusses the range of finishes available at Canam and provides guidance in selecting the finishes used in the construction of steel buildings.
A special article in this issue deals with the timely issue of sustainable development and green buildings. In addition to addressing the topic of LEED certification, this article describes the initiatives already taken by Canam that encourage sustainable development and lists the advantages of using open-web products.
In every issue, honourable mention is conferred to a consulting engineering firm that has resolved a complex problem at the building design stage and made optimum use of Canam products and/or solutions. Honourable mention in this issue goes to BPR-Triax of Laval for the athletic facility located in Terrebonne, Quebec.
Canam Info-Tech is intended to keep decision-makers informed of the various products fabricated by Canam: steel joists, steel deck, joist girders, purlins and girts.
You can access the September issue via Canam Canada’s homepage. Visitors are now required to subscribe to the online documentation centre to be able to access Canam Info-Tech. This new approach will allow us to obtain relevant information on the type of visitors who read this electronic bulletin and to adjust the contents accordingly.
